Choi Eunhwa (Choi): How did you start ¡®Mars House¡¯, the first work of digital architecture to be sold on the NFT?

Krista Kim (Kim): Last March, I decided to create my dream home using the latest digital technology. I envisaged one large LED floor that would stretch from the house, along the patio, to the swimming pool, demonstrating the healing qualities found in my video art. I predict houses of the future will use video walls as residential architectural installations on which to display digital art. I feel that our society needs an antidote to the relentless distraction of the digital screen and the pressure thousands of messages place on our consciousness. Light, colour and healing sound frequencies can alter our mental state. In the Mars House, I sit with my Oculus glasses, I sit in a chair, and I enter the Mars House on Spatial (spatial. io). I sit in the house, I listen to the meditative music by Ligovskoi, and I let the light and colour flow through me. We have physiological responses to colour, light and sound.

Choi: Your project was sold on the NFT art platform SuperRare (superrare.com) for $500,000. I assume the transaction process and methods are different from that of physical outlets?

Kim: I listed the Mars House for sale on SuperRare with my collaborator, Jeff Schroeder. My collector, AOI (Art on Internet), made a final bid of 288ETH and I accepted the offer. SuperRare automatically transfers the ETH to my wallet when the buyer purchases the artwork. AOI has the NFT of the video artwork in the Mars House in his wallet on SuperRare, and he also has access to the 3D Metaverse house, which can be installed on any platform. Currently, the Mars House is on Spatial. AOI and I invite guests there on a weekly basis for meetings and social gatherings. Krista Kim Studio owns full copyright of the Mars House.

Choi: Is there a possibility that the Mars House could be physically realised?

Kim: I always had that intention. From July to November in Venice, Italy, I am exhibiting Mars polyhedron sculptural side tables, handmade in Murano.

Choi: How can NFT art, especially NFT architecture, improve our lives?

Kim: The next generation of NFTs will be programmable, 3D digital assets that you can mint and buy in real time AR on an app called Superworld (www. superworldapp.com). The world will be given interface form in AR on Superworld, which allows us to purchase virtual real estate based on actual real estate, and in this way we can mind and upload 3D interactive NFT, which we can all experience at the same time in our real environments. NFTs will be displayed as virtual 3D pieces, in homes as well as outdoor spaces, but they can also float in the sky or be placed on our bodies. We will adorn ourselves with digital fashions, accessories and art that react to our moods, our words...the future will be very creative and self-expressive.
