SPACE July 2026 (No. 704)
Far from Wagner’s literal Festpielhaus, under other myths and shadows, the proposed building is meant to be an embodied philosophy; both as a problematic physical and mental experience. Problematic, and also dubious, uncertain, difficult and enigmatic form of knowledge. Perhaps, the only difference between Nietzsche’s monument and any other building dwells in its capacity to defy the very ethical (or ideal) function of architecture, this is: to be a legible system of signs within an illegible world. Despite its simple self-contained cylindrical presence within the botanical garden, and despite the clear arrangement of four modest equivalent entrances, there is a surprising inner domain configured by contrasting light and dark, concave and convex, narrow and distorted chambers.
