SPACE July 2026 (No. 704)

Far from Wagner¡¯s literal Festpielhaus, under other myths and shadows, the proposed building is meant to be an embodied philosophy; both as a problematic physical and mental experience. Problematic, and also dubious, uncertain, difficult and enigmatic form of knowledge. Perhaps, the only difference between Nietzsche¡¯s monument and any other building dwells in its capacity to defy the very ethical (or ideal) function of architecture, this is: to be a legible system of signs within an illegible world. Despite its simple self-contained cylindrical presence within the botanical garden, and despite the clear arrangement of four modest equivalent entrances, there is a surprising inner domain configured by contrasting light and dark, concave and convex, narrow and distorted chambers.
