Sky of Seolhaeone Captured in Space Through the Skylights
Type A is a concrete structure with Seolhaeone Gable that combines a gable roof with a flat roof. Seolhaeone Gable, which was previously used in the Seolhaeone Clubhouse, is a unique type of gable roof that combines the form of Seoraksan Mountain with the horizontality of the Yangyang¡¯s sea, and it is characterised by creating an open visual sequence for the entire complex. In particular, the stairase and corridor are not just spaces for movement but serve to capture the front and rear views and superimpose them as horizontal layers. The top skylight expands the experience of the space from horizontal axis to vertical direction, and together with light and natural elements, transform it into a holistic three-dimensional experience. This is in line with the strategy of making a relatively small space larger and more flexible. It superimposes visual layering through transitional spaces between the rooms and expands them into vertical spaces of light, to make the entire space appear larger than its actual size. Round-section louvers arranged in three dimensions along the gable roof and aluminum panels on the exterior walls of the first floor maximise the physical properties of metal and, together with the surrounding landscape, make the architecture an object nestled in nature. In particular, the vein pattern of limestone Jura Beige used as the main exterior material, reveals the grain of time and reveal a material property that borders between marble and wood. In addition, marble used as the main material emphasises horizontality and defines the entire landscape, while the combination of black aluminum panels at upper and lower part reveals the linearity of simple and elegant elevation.
