Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) designated Korea Infrastructure Safety & Technology Corporation (KISTEC) and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) as the Architecture Supporting Center. Following the Building Management Act, this decision from MOLIT was made to allow for a more efficient stimulation of policy-making and technology research, development, and supply regarding building management. From now onwards, all building complexes of floor areas of 3,000§³ and above must receive checks in all aspects including structural safety and energy performance by architects and architectural technicians professionally trained in building management review. Education for professionals who wish to participate in the checking procedure has been organized in February 17, and it includes information regarding building structure, fire safety, and review practice.
KISTEC will add the results of its own structural diagnosis technology to the reviewing process and prevent possible overlooks by hiring professionals such as architects and energy assessors. To ensure safety in demolition works, KISTEC will also review the demolition plans and manage an educational program and call center to support the local autonomous region¡¯s building management representative. LH will provide consultations regarding fire safety enhancement project application, site analysis, reinforcement construction method selection, and expected cost calculation from fire protection engineers and building structure technicians. Also, LH will provide monitoring services for construction sites and fully-constructed buildings in terms of reviewing the results of their enhanced capabilities.
Education application to become a building management reviewer can be done from Kira-Edu website (http://kira3.awcasts.com), and it is also expected to be expanded to other educational institutions such as KISTEC.
