The 2019 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism D-100

The appointment ceremony for curators, a civilian promotion group and the honorary ambassadors of 2019 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (2019 Seoul Biennale), which will be running for 65 days from 7 September to 10 November, was held at Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture on 30 May. The event was to celebrate 100 days before the opening of the Biennale to promote the successful hosting of the 2019 Seoul Biennale. 

The ceremony began with the appointment of the general director, Lim Jaeyong (Principal, OCA), who has organised a number of exhibitions including ¡®2014 Berlin Seoul: Towards a Meta-City¡¯, ¡®2012 Architecture Exchange Between Korea and Japan¡¯. Following the appointment, influencers from various social media platforms were appointed as a civilian promotion group. They will participate in the opening ceremony, exhibition and participation programmes to conduct promotional activities by sharing information and reviews online. The actor Byun Yohan, the honorary ambassador for 2019 Seoul Biennale, said, ¡®I will do my best to promote the event at home and abroad¡¯. Jin Heeseon, the junior deputy mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government, also added ¡®I hope the Seoul Biennale will help people understand the city easily and actively participate in urban issues by reflecting on the various problems facing cities around the world¡¯. 

The 2019 Seoul Biennale, which marks the second year, will feature the ¡®Collective City¡¯. The thematic exhibition featuring 180 teams will be at DDP, Cities exhibition at Donuimun Museum Village, Global Studio which will involve 36 universities from home and abroad will be at Sewoon Hall in Sewoon Sangga, Live Projects which features traditional markets in the Seoul Museum of History, Sewoon Sangga and Daelim Sangga. <by editorial team>
