Space B-E Gallery held ¡®Lines¡¯ – the inaugural chapter of ¡®The Language of Architecture¡¯, an exhibition series that probes the intersection of craft¡¯s refined skill and architecture¡¯s structural-spatial logic – until June 28. The exhibition spotlighted the architectural potential of thread-like, supple linear media and the weaving logics that bind them into form. In Eaves (2025), Kim Na-yeon and Kim Hyoyoung (principal, KHY architects) translate the curve of a roofline into a woven installation, interrogating the moment where a line gains structural agency. Steel strands inserted into Hansan ramie add tension to the fabric¡¯s flexibility. As they bend under gravity, they form curves, and the lines, originally woven in a planar form, are transformed into three-dimensional lines in space. Into the bamboo (2025) by Son Min-jung and Lee Daewoo (principal, LEEDAEWOO architects) constructs an exterior skin from the linearity of bamboo. The weave of the skin was inspired by the warp and weft of Damyang rice baskets, and, considering the material properties and structural performance of bamboo, it was developed into a dome form. The design orchestrates sightlines and movement beyond the structure, operating as a sculptural framework that scripts sensory thresholds across the exhibition hall. In addition, the exhibition presented pillars made of fabric, a partition made by tensioning thread, a bench woven from wooden slats, and other various woven works, suggesting the possibility that weaving can expand into an architectural element.
