On Apr. 10, the winner of the Design Contest for Muk 1-dong Complex in Jungnang-gu, Seoul was announced. This design competition was organised by Seoul Metropolitan Government to replace the 36-year-old Muk 1-dong government office with a new building complex. The winning proposal from Zaunkyeong Architects (co-principals, Yoon Jinah, Na Hyeyeon) uses a glazed façade on the building exterior and draws out voids, terraces, and rooftop spaces to add exterior spaces to each floor. Aside from allowing the users to read spatial information with ease through the transparent exterior walls, the design proposal also added new entryways from the street to emphasise connectivity between exterior and interior spaces. The design proposal was also praised for its excellent zoning per floor, shared spaces, connections between facilities, and for enabling user access to exterior spaces on each floor. The construction of this new building complex, with a total area size of 4,100m2, two basements, and four floors, is expected to be finished in 2028.
