OPENHOUSE SEOUL 2024 is celebrating its 11th anniversary by highlighting various points throughout Seoul from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3. This year, under the special theme, ¡®Meeting a Place for Everyday Life in a City of Solace¡¯, the event highlights everyday spaces, such as homes, offices, and schools, where we spend most of our time. Among the many artists, the architect Kim Jeongim (principal, Seoro Architects) has been selected as the subject for artist of the year programme. Her interests in everyday space will be represented in different ways including the recording of an interview, numerous digital archives, OPENHOUSE, and an OPENSTUDIO programme. By listing her many diverse projects, she will narrate the importance and the value of neglected everyday spaces. In total, there will be 145 programmes this year. The OPENHOUSE programme is classified into 11 distinct sections. Many private office buildings including but not limited to thisisneverthat office building seongsu and GRC will be introduced in the section called, ¡®space for work, office/headquarter¡¯. Moreover, visitors will be able to appreciate new exhibition spaces, THE H GALLERY or FUTURA SEOUL, but also long-loved spaces, DAEYANG GALLERY AND HOUSE and GIZI_Art Base in the ¡®Cultural space, cultivated from spatial art¡¯ section. For those visitors who are interested in both programmes, OPENHOUSE and OPENSTUDIO, there are combined programmes offered by BCHO Partners and Lifethings. Both architects will share their ideas by referring to their own projects.  For example, participants can engage with in-depth explorations of Youth Quake and other projects in the Tongui-dong neighbourhood with Cho Byoungsoo (principal, BCHO Partners). On the other hand, by visiting Thila they can also hear stories and various perspectives from Yang Soo-in (principal, Lifethings) such as reflections on architecture, real estate, interior design, and space management.
