On Nov. 29, ‘Timeless Yeoju’ by Haema Architects + KG Engineering & Architecture + Dong Nam M.E.C. was picked as the winner of Yeoju City New City Hall Design Competition. Through this competition, Yeoju City seeks to establish a new office building in Gaeop-dong which is a high-traffic neighbourhood. By arranging independent masses for the city council, locals, and staff in accordance with the necessary city hall functions, ‘Timeless Yeoju’ secured a sidewalk for the staff and locals. The separate masses were connected by stacking two masses. While the stacked mass which functions as the main office emphasises its frontality toward the city to symbolise the unity of Yeoju. The winning design was highly reviewed in terms of its functionality and economic value for using eco-friendly heavy timber structure. The new office with one basement floor and seven aboveground floors with a total floor area of 31,240m2 is expected to finish construction in late 2028.
