Design Competition Paju City announced the winning design for the Intergenerational Integrated Support Center (tentative name) Design Competition on Oct. 16. The winning proposal by yiwayim architects (co-principals, Lee Doeun, Yim Hyunjin). The project aims to address the aging infrastructure and the present limited spaces that are used by children, young people and residents, along with the increasing demand for these services. The centre is expected to house a variety of programmes. The design competition called for an architectural solution that would serve as the centre point between six institutions, each run by different operators and hosting different users. The winning design was lauded for its ability to consolidate the open orientation of the site while also offering a clear architectural proposal for a platform that envisages a shared future. The five-storey centre (B1, 4F) will be constructed at Geumchon-dong, with an estimated budget of 35.4 billion KRW.
