SPACE August 2023 (No. 669)

The Korea International Cooperation Agency held a design competition for the Da Vien Island Culture Complex and Pedestrian Bridge as part of the Hue Culture and Tourism Smart City Development. At the jury review held on June 14, of the five nominated teams, it was FHHH FRIENDS who was awarded the honor. The project to build a complex cultural space with a gross floor area of 3,000m2 and a pedestrian bridge on a 12,536m2 site focuses on creating a cultural tourism centre on the site of an intake station. The winning proposal revealed an attitude of respect for the place and for the historical value of Hue City, with a layout plan that avoided disrupting local industrial heritage and offered a topographic plan based on the traces left by the Hương River. The chairman of the jury, Cho Namho (principal, Soltozibin Architects), noted that the winning proposal ¡®went beyond the limits of the task and presented decommissioned architectural solution with a clearer perspective¡¯.
