Winning proposal: Baekhyun MICE Urban Development Project Competition ©Haenglim Architecture & Engineering
On May 26, Seongnam Development Corporation selected the preferred bidder for the Baekhyun MICE Urban Development Project. The project plans to build a MICE industry complex with an area of approximately 206,000m2 in connection with the Pangyo Techno Valley in Jeongia-dong, Bundang-gu. The winner is a consortium of Meritz Securities, with Haenglim Architecture & Engineering (CEO, Lee Yongho) leading the design, and Heerim Architects & Planners (CEO, Jeong Youngkyoon) and AA Archigroup (CEO, Kim Kilsang) participating. The design plans workspaces to accommodate the changing work culture of the future, and creates organic connections between buildings and with the surrounding area through six links and ten bridges. The judges gave positive reviews to ‘traffic-related measures’ and ‘land use plan changes that take into account neighbouring facilities’. The complex, which will include an exhibition and convention centre, mixed-use business facilities, and tourist recreation and accommodation facilities, is scheduled to begin construction in 2025.
