Winning proposal: Design Competition for Paju Bandabi Sports Center ©FHHH FRIENDS

On May 4, the Paju City announced the winner of the Design Competition for Paju Bandabi Sports Center. The facility aims to provide a sports, cultural, and recreational space for local residents to come together without distinction between people with and without disabilities. FHHH FRIENDS (co-principals, Yoon Hanjin, Han Seungjae, Han Yangkyu) won the competition by focusing on harmony with the surrounding landscape and simplifying accessibility for the disabled. The jury praised the ¡®completeness of the architectural space connecting the pool and gymnasium¡¯ and the ¡®integration of programmes, structures, and spaces¡¯, but noted the need to improve the low floor level of the pool, which is only one floor high. Going forward, the Paju Bandabi Sports Center is scheduled to be completed in Oct. 2025 after undergoing detailed design.
