On Dec. 21, 2022, Incheon Metropolitan City unveiled the outline for Incheon Museumpark. Incheon Museumpark proposed a concept for a ¡®museumpark¡¯, the first of its kind in Korea, integrating projects that were individually planned by Incheon Metropolitan City, such as the relocation of the city museum, the establishment of the city art museum, and the creation of cultural facilities in the old city centre. The winning project has been co-designed by tomoon architects & engineers (principal, Choi Dooho) + MPART Architects (principal, Mihn Hyunjun) + TPL Architect (principal, Ko Youngsun), and includes the concept of covering the changes to the site. The judges praised the winning project highly, noting that it was a plan that looked back into the past and corresponded with the characteristics of a future-oriented facility, and also created the most Incheon-like value. The project has a total floor area of 41,812m2 and a project cost of 201.4 billion KRW. Construction document phase and construction are scheduled to continue with the goal of opening in May 2027.
