On May 30, a sketch of the New Haeundae-gu City Hall was released. The current Haeundae-gu office is not only aging, now at 40 years after its completion, but it is located in the southeast of Haeundaegu and needs to improve accessibility. Haeundae-gu plans to relocate and build a new government building on a 13000m2 site located in the General Industrial Complex of Jaesong-dong Centum City through this public competition, and to expand its facilities for residents by concentrating on decentralised administrative functions. HANMI Architects (principal, Lee Bongdoo) + Busan Architecture (co-principal, Jeong Taebok, Lee Chaegeun) were evaluated as ¡®a plan reflecting a high understanding of administrative work¡¯, ¡®a reasonable flat structure¡¯, and ¡®a pedestrian-friendly and three-dimensional space plan¡¯. The city hall of Haeundae-gu is scheduled to be completed in Dec. 2024. After the final design is completed, bidding will be held immediately, and construction will start in June next year.
