On Mar. 22, Yeongdeungpo-gu announced the results of the Competition for the Public Office Building of Daelim 3-dong. Forty years after construction, the competition focused on harmony within this variable spatial composition and surrounding environment in order to relieve the inconvenience of the aging Daelim 3-dong Community Center. Sidam Architects (principal, Kim Shiweon) + Architecture Cornerstone (principal, Gu Chunhoi) were selected as the winners. The judges praised ‘understanding the context of the city and linking it to the surrounding space, properly’, ‘simple yet sophisticated elevation design’, and ‘appropriate material selection’. The site area will be 729.6m2, and a public complex building with a total floor area of about 1,800m2 will be built. Construction is scheduled to run from Jan. 2023 to Jan. 2025.
