The Design Competition for Construction of the Social Solidarity Coexisting Center

On Apr. 22, Jeonju-si announced the results of the Design Competition for Construction of the Social Solidarity Coexisting Center. With a total project cost of 11.5 billion won and a land area of 1,357m2the project is expected to play a vital role in introducing a more virtuous cycle in the economy of the region by providing a platform for product sales and distribution to social enterprises while also gifting Jeonju citizens a complex cultural space founded on local products. The interior space will consist of a hall for local company product demonstration sales, storage facilities, co-working offices, a community space used by all Jeonju citizens, a book café, and a gallery for performances and exhibitions. As a result of the screening, the design proposal submitted by d¡¯MA Architectures (principal, Byun Namil) + Chang Architects (principal, Jung Hyuna) + Songsin Architects (principal, Shin Soonjung) was selected and evaluated as impressive for its ¡®placement plan in consideration of surrounding conditions¡¯, the ¡®organic connection between exterior and interior and excellent space utilisation¡¯, and ¡®appropriate zoning of indoor space and connection between floors¡¯.
