On Nov. 3, Yi Eunyoung (principal, Yi Architects) and Lee Mingwan (principal, A Group) won the Jeonbuk Leader Library competition. The project mainly aimed to establish new library policy and a cooperative system between libraries for the systematic support of library services, and to collect and provide materials for the study of Jeonbuk. The winning work received a favorable evaluation for its excellent planning decisions, such as entrances on the first and second floor which were sensitive to the surrounding terrain, the connection between internal vertical circulation, and the planning of a modular core space and expandable space. The library, with one basement and four above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 12,599m2, is scheduled to be completed in Dec. 2024 in Gijije Cultural Park, in the Jeonbuk Innovation City.
