On July 22, the Seoul Metropolitan Government selected the ‘Open Council, Transparent Council’ of the JEGONG ARCHITECTS (principal, Go Taesik) as the winning project for the design proposal for the city council building space and seismic reinforcement. This competition was held for the extension of the government building and earthquake-resistance construction to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the reinstatement of the Seoul Metropolitan Council in 2021. The winning project consists of 10 newly relocated committee spaces as open spaces rather than grid system office spaces. The jury evaluated that it was a work with a high possibility of realization in terms of cost and presented a clear ideal and direction. Kim Inho (chairperson, Seoul metropolitan council) said, ‘This is a project that we started to prepare for the increasing demand for legislative activities such as independence of personnel rights in the city council next year.’
