¢º Selection criteria for Beautiful Gyeonggi Architecture

Beautiful Gyeonggi Architecture was created to provide an information service for collected data on its homepage regarding architectural attractions located in Gyeonggi-do that have been evaluated as worthy of being promoted, recorded, preserved, taught, and used for their distinguished quality and class in terms of architectural or locational value as regional architectural property. The selection of buildings was conducted upon research work (2012 – 2013) based on the provided data recommended by publicly-invited citizens and professionals from 31 cities and towns, while the photos and explanations were prepared through a separately-conducted research work (2013 – 2014). As of the the 15th of February, 2022, a total of 132 contemporary architectural attractions, 71 modern architectural attractions, and 108 historical architectural attractions have been listed. At present, however, there is only a simplified set of summaries and photos regarding the modern architectural attractions uploaded at the Rural Development Administration Library, and building descriptions are still being prepared for the next update. ¢º¢º Selection criteria for exceptional architectural assets

Grade A is awarded to buildings that are distinguished in terms of their outstanding architectural, regional, and historical properties. Buildings of this grade are strongly recommended for preservation, their appearances maintained for use, and their surrounding landscape restored to a certain extent. If possible, the building is also recommended for selection or registration as a cultural heritage site. For a building to be recognised as a exceptional architectural assets, it must score above 42, 12, and 6 points respectively for its architectural, regional, and historical properties. The architectural property was further divided into architectural planning (appearance, landscape, usage, spatial composition) and architectural technique (structure and organisation, material, scale); the regional properties were sub-divided into regional history, regional symbol, and position; and the historical properties was sub-divided into occupants (organisation) and events. The Rural Development Administration Library was given Grade A for scoring 64 points in architectural property, 17 points in regional property, and 8 points in historical property, and this score was similar to that credited to the main building of the Rural Development Administration (67 points in architectural property, 17 points in regional property, 8 points in historical property) designed by Kim Joungsu.
