Winning proposals: Munsan Indoor Badminton ©WISE ARCHITECTURE
On Sep. 13, Paju City announced WISE ARCHITECTURE (co-principals, Sook Hee Chun, Jang Youngchul) as the winners of the Munsan Indoor Badminton Stadium Design Competition. The facility is to be constructed on a 24,873m parcel of land located at Munsan- eup, Paju-si, with a project budget of approximately 4.8 billion KRW. This project aims to establish a facility specially designed for badminton, distinguishing it from the previous all- purpose indoor sports stadium, the Munsan National Sports Center, located within the Munsan Sports Park. The winning design conjures harmony between the building¡¯s shape, structure, and its environment. It was praised for its exemplary interpretation of badminton-specific facilities and the way it encourages interactive relationships between the stadium volume and surrounding environment. Construction of this environmentally friendly indoor badminton stadium is slated to begin in the first half of 2025, with completion expected by the end of the year.
